Midwest Creation Fellowship Presents
Critical Thinking Mini-Seminar
April 10, 2010, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Critical thinking is a popular topic in education circles, but applying it to evolution is usually forbidden. Let’s apply it to the reporting of the Scopes Trial, evolution itself, and evangelism!
Lael Weinberger examines the Scopes “Monkey” Trial of 1925, that has come to represent a triumph of science over religion in American culture. But if you think you know its story from Inherit the Wind – you don’t! Hear the facts taken from the actual historical records!
James Orme will cover Clear Thinking about Evolution, applying critical thinking skills to claims for evolution. He
will expose illogical thinking such as equivocation, confusion of
categories,
and “bait and switch tactics.” (Forbidden knowledge!)
Finally, the video Simple Tools for Brain Surgery applies critical thinking in witnessing to non-Christians. In videotaped real interviews, Bill Jack demonstrates four questions aimed at getting people to think rationally about the truthfulness of their beliefs. Encouraging!
This event will be especially helpful for students (junior high and up) in secular environments, as well as for Sunday School teachers, parents, Christian educators and youth pastors.
Cost: none. A free will offering will be taken.
